3 Why Debrief – Shout Out  WHY...  Spend the time?  Put in the effort?  What will be gained?  Who will benefit?

4 Key Questions  What do you want to learn?  Feedback to CMS/SBE on training or website  Source of ongoing information  What do you need to do a better job  Outreach strategies, what worked, what has potential  What do you want participants to feel/experience?  Appreciation  Build community  Promote collaboration Begin with the end in mind

5 Other Considerations  Who should attend?  Who should not attend?  Is attendance required?  Who should or shouldn’t facilitate?  What are you going to do with the information?  Who gets it?  Will individual responses be identified?

6 What Are Your Goals – Table Work  Who are you debriefing, how many people?  What are the top two – three things you want to learn, what information do you need from them?  What do you want participants to experience/ feel ?

9 Example: A Beer with the President You are sharing a beer with President Obama, just the two of you, and he says, “I greatly appreciate your hard work and help in getting uninsured people covered. Now I know the law and Heatlhcare.gov isn’t perfect, from your perspective can you share two things that really need to be changed or improved? Then, how about two things that worked better than last year - - and don’t just say the website, be a little more specific”. Engagement & General
