3 Chondrichthyes Examples: Sharks, Rays, and Chimeras Characteristics: Cartilaginous fish, skeleton made of cartilage

4 Osteichthyes Examples: Bony Fish Characteristics: skeletons made of bone, Most diverse group of vertebrates.

5 Amphibia Examples: Salamanders, frogs, toads, caecilians Characteristics: First vertebrates adapted to live both in water and on land. Reproduce in water and or moist land.

6 Reptilia Examples: Snakes, Lizards, crocodiles, alligators, and turtles Characteristics: Able to retain moisture, live exclusively on land, Produce eggs that do not have to develop in water.

7 Aves Examples: Birds Characteristics: distinguished be presence of feathers along with other features. Feathers insulate the bird from the cold and allow for flight.

8 Mammalia Examples: Humans, cows, horses Characteristics: Hair, Mammary Glands, Three middle ear bones.
