2 Learning Targets 1.I can be respectful to all adults at North Middle. 2.I can act with integrity when a sub is in the classroom. 3.My use of patriot traits will welcome and impress visitors at North Middle.

3 RESPECT Respect is treating others only as you want to be treated in the same situation Be tolerant of differences Use good manners Use appropriate language Be considerate of the feelings of others Do not threaten, hit, or hurt anyone Deal peacefully with anger, insult, and disagreements Follow directions Be considerate of other people’s property Accept the various roles within the school and the community How do you think students could show respect towards any adult in the building?

4 RESPONSIBILITY Responsibility is being accountable to do what you should or must do; being trusted to do what is right. Be on time to class and activities Follow classroom and school expectations Come prepared to learn and participate Bring supplies and assignments to class Keep area neat and clean (locker and materials) Appropriately fill in planner Know and follow rules as written in Parent/Guardian and Student Handbook Accept consequences for your actions What are examples of student responsibility that any adult in our building might observe?

5 INTEGRITY Integrity is your internal values; consistently doing the right thing – even when no one is watching. Know how and where to go for help Be honest – tell the truth Think before you act and speak Be accountable for what you say or do Be honorable – play by the rules Be reliable Be trustworthy – do not deceive, cheat, or steal Don’t take advantage of others Have self respect Give an example of how a student could show integrity when a sub is in the classroom?

6 The Importance of Respecting all Adults Whether the adult at North Middle is someone you know or not doesn’t matter. It is the responsibility of all students and staff to treat one another with respect. o Are there North Middle staff members that you may not know? It is still his/her job to enforce school rules with all students, and your job to follow the rules and directives from all staff. Accept all redirects respectfully.

It is the responsibility of all students and staff to treat one another with respect. o Are there visitors in our building? They will judge North Middle by their experience here…what will they say to others when they leave? What part do you play in this?

13 Respecting Subs at North Middle Scenario: You are in the hallway and notice an adult wearing a substitute teacher badge and he/she is looking lost. What would you do? Scenario: You are in a classroom with a substitute teacher, and you notice a classmate in another student’s assigned seat. What should you do? Scenario: You witness a fellow student being rude and disrespectful to a substitute teacher. What should you do?
