There is a need to give to our pupils an idea of religious life in different parishes. 2 Sacral places of the deanery European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Teacher Planning and Management Background & Planning: In the introductory lesson of planning the project we can use the means of a classic classroom. The main part of the project is to visit the parish. Where pupils attend a meeting with local priests, they get to know the visited parish and its history, become familiar with artistic styles, learn to distinguish between works of art and kitschy imitations, cultivate good taste. After the visit of the church we visited also a local cemetery and/or other sacral places like houses of mourning, memorable crosses and so on. While working with the materials we need a classroom with computer and internet access. Planning for the future: I have offered participation in this project about 200 catechists inside diocese and I also invited to take participation in this The Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Slovak Republic. Classroom Images: There are two categories of the images: Student´s visits of the parishes Internet classroom. Documents DEANERY HUMENNÉ

3 Sacral places of the deanery European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Teaching Resources Overview of the student´s activities: The task for students will be based on their own searching for sources to elaborate a brief overview of the history of the parish to which they belong or whichever branch of parish they have visited. They will create the web gallery up to its publishing on the web, 3D models of the church, edit video and upload it to Internet. Documents Project Sacral places of the deanery DIOCESE CASSOVIENSIS

4 Sacral places of the deanery European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Assessment and Standards Assessment Rubrics: The specification of the overall assessment of pupils' works is the possibility to join in it (except the teachers certainly, also): 1.The parents 2.The leadership of the school 3.The priests of the visited parishes 4.And the inhabitants of the region through the Internet. I can see a real possibility for rise an international competition between the schools in this type of projects in the future. Mapping the Standards: There have not been prepared valid standards for the Religious education (in this project: Catholic Religion Education) so far but as you can see below, there is a suggestion for such standard which was prepared by the author of this project in 2003. By placing it here I approve the catechists to use it. This standard has been designed by using the Bloom, Krathwohl and Niemerko´s taxonomy. National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS): See above. Documents CATHOLIC CHURCH IN SLOVAKIA

5 Sacral places of the deanery European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Personal Learning Outcomes There are my most valuable experiences, which I have obtained by realization of this project: - teacher's need to learn about new technologies and programmes (video camera software, SketchUp, upload to You Tube...) - a possibility for each pupil to join a project according to their own abilities - both individual and grouped conversation with the pupils during the project, an uprating personal relation between a pupil and a teacher - pupils´ gladness about the cooperation and common outcome - a catechist's surprise from recognition of pupils´ spectrum of abilities and their ability to work up a task precisely and up to the mark - positive response to the project from priests and people in parishes we have met - a pupils request for repeated visit of another parish soon - a possibility for qualitative advertising of a school by publishing the project on the Internet and the most important: - a discovery of possibility of enlarging of this project to whole region, Slovakia, Europe... - and to make use of an opportunity for other Christian religions to join the project and by this way to contribute to correlative comprehension, respect and closeness of the people P R O J E C T F O R R E L I G I O N S P R O J E C T F O R E U R O P E
