7. 7 Cross-Border Cooperation on water, nature, EIA and SEA Key Challenges –Identificaton of NATURA 2000 sites –Implementation of Directives on EIA and SEA at national and regional level –ESPOO Convention and Protocol on SEA : strenghten cooperation with neighbouring countries Possible ways to address them –Ongoing Phare project NATURA 2000 –exchange of experience, lessons learnt –Capacity building activities

8. 8 Enforcement and Compliance, ECENA Key Challenges –implementation and enforcement in all member countries –strong regional cooperation and coordination activities –to share experience and best practise –to share experience gained in IMPEL among non IMPEL member countries –specialisation of inspectors (eco crime, liability, cooperation with INTERPOL, Basel Convention issues..) –lessons learned from new MS (Bulgaria, Romania)

9. 9 Enforcement and Compliance, ECENA Possible ways to address them –To implement ECENA MAP 2007-2010 –To continue cooperation with IMPEL –To continue supporting ECENA member countries on their way to EU membership
