1. Whooo’s going to Rock on SBAC’s? Directions That ALL Student Should Know When Taking the SBAC © 2014 K. Griffith

2. “ Select” means the student must use his/her mouse cursor to choose a specified item (or items), including numbers, points, etc. Remember there can be more than 1 answer. “Select” © 2014 K. Griffith

3. “Click” Students will use their mouse to click on the correct answer. Students might need to select a whole sentence for the reading test or select a multiple choice answer. © 2014 K. Griffith

4. “Choose” “Choose: and “Select” are alike, this action asks the students to click the correct option between a series of two or more choices. Remember, there could be more than one correct answer. © 2014 K. Griffith

5. Students must click on a picture, using their left mouse button and hold the left mouse button while moving the item from one place to the next with their mouse. When the item is where the student would like it to be, release the left mouse button. “Drag” © 2014 K. Griffith

6. This action asks the student to type out how he/she came up with an answer in the box. The question may ask you to explain how you got your math problem answer or what point an author was making in a story. “Explain” © 2014 K. Griffith

7. “Describe” “Describe” is similar to explain and can be used in the same way as explain. Students will need type text as how to arrive at a result of a question. “Show” This is also used similarly to describe and explain. Students will be typing text to “show” how they came to get their answer. © 2014 K. Griffith

8. “ Support Your Answer” This action asks the student to use their keyboard to type in the answer of a question in the answer box. Remember to look at the question to see what it is asking for- usually a number, words, or sentences. © 2014 K. Griffith

9. “Write” Student will be asked to “write”, an equation or expression in the answer box using a keypad that is embedded in the test. Students can use their mouse to click on the desired numbers to create the correct equation. © 2014 K. Griffith

10. “Enter” Student to use their keyboard to type in the answer to a question using their keyboard or clicking on the numbers on the keypad to enter the correct answer in the box. © 2014 K. Griffith

11. “Complete” Students will be asked to complete or “fill-in-the- blank” to illustrate the correct answer. Students will be choosing the correct terms to complete a table, a graph, or a number sentence. © 2014 K. Griffith

12. “Create” Student will use the mouse to drag and drop images to make a specified shape, grid, area, sequence, etc. in the designated area. © 2014 K. Griffith

13. The Connect Line Tool Students will be asked to use the connect line tool on the SBAC to create a shape. First, students must use the “add a point” button to plot their points. Simply click on the “add a point” button then go to the graph and click where you want to add a point. Then select the “connect line” tool to draw a line between 2 points you made. © 2014 K. Griffith

14. Now, it’s your turn to try out the SBAC! © 2014 K. Griffith
