3 Subject Pronouns Mark went to the mall. He went to the mall. Jim and Sue vacationed in Florida. They vacationed in Florida.

5 Object Pronouns Tim took Sue to the movies. Tim took her to the movies. Sue went shopping with Steve and Jim. Sue went shopping with them.

6 Antecedents A pronoun takes its meaning from the noun it replaces. The noun that the pronoun refers to is called the antecedent. When Sue had enough money, she bought a new bike.

7 ? What is the Antecedent  Sue and Jim were in a hurry. They left with out their coats.  Mark loves to plat football, he is very athletic.  The book is very old, it has been read many times.

16 Turn the sentence around. If you can substitute he or use a name, use who. If you can substitute him, use whom. ___ is that man? – Mike is that man. Who ___ did you call? – You did call him. whom

17 Reflexive Pronouns (Intensive pronouns) Reflexive pronouns or intensive pronouns refer back to the subject of the sentence. They end in self or selves Sue emailed herself a copy of the letter. The students planned the dance themselves.
