5. Why the Need for ICTs in the 21 st Century Classroom ? Con’d  Classrooms are sterile,  Methodologies content based and irrelevant  21 st Century Education demands…….that we prepare for a diverse globalised and complex media- saturated society  There is a need to change the nature of the culture of student engagement in our classrooms for a healthy balanced and sustainable society

6. Why the Need for ICTs in the 21 st Century Classroom ?  SSS & SHS Student turnover  SHSS turns over approx. 1100 students/yr x 34 yr totaling 37,400  SSS turns over 750 students/yr x 50 totaling 37,500  50% of our current population could have been educated at SSS and SHSS………

7. Enabling Factors  The vision statements of both schools already embrace the objective to infuse ICT in the teaching learning process  Climate is poised to utilise technology Each has 2 computer labs Audio Visual room Portable Multimedia SSS Video conferencing facility Staff computers/laptops
