1 Regional Club Forums Jan/Feb 2016 Hockey – the game for everyone!

2 Club governance - STARCLUB Hockey – the game for everyone! 25 questions/criteria covering: ‘well managed’, coaches & officials, volunteers, positive & welcoming and safe for all. 15 of 25 questions are required purely for legal compliance. Looked at by ORS that they look at when evaluating grant submissions. Current accreditations (September 2015): – 1 Recognised STARCLUB – Risdon HC (Port Pirie). – 7 Clubs with Provisional status – 13 other Clubs at >17/25 criteria met

3 Club governance – Good Sports Hockey – the game for everyone! Good Sports accreditation is important external recognition for clubs having processes in place that minimise risk of alcohol related incidents and promote safe drinking – which is an important risk mitigant for club management committees. Current accreditations (May 2015): – L3 – Hockey SA, Whyalla HA, Forestville – L2 – 6 regional clubs/associations – L1 – 11 clubs/associations – Overdue or withdrawn – 10 clubs/associations RSA training – Hockey SA hosting twice a year and will pay for up to 2 people per club/assoc. a year to attend. 5 clubs / associations went through training in 2015.

4 Destination Hockey Hockey – the game for everyone! Collaborative whole-of-sport approach to promoting hockey, engaging with participants and getting more people into the game based around 2016 Olympics and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Some components: – ‘Hubs’ – clubs, schools, etc – Resources from Hockey Australia to promote hockey – National Hockey Week May/June 2016 To be launched Feb 2016.

5 Umpire Development Hockey – the game for everyone! Almost 200 umpire accreditations over the past 2 years. New Umpire Pathway Strategy completed. Seeking funding under ORS SRDIP grant program to support this new umpiring structure and implementation. Expect to appoint 4-5 Umpire Coaches for 2016. Umpire development policy drafted. Umpire allocation procedure prepared. Umpire coaching feedback form in process. Focus on developing more senior female umpires. Planning a calendar of PD nights in 2016 which will be published in Feb. Contact Tony Gunn for more

7 Coach Development Hockey – the game for everyone! Over 120 coach accreditations over the past 2 years. Level 1 accreditation courses being run at clubs/associations on request. Grant received to support travel costs for regional coaches in support of level 1/2 coach accreditations. AHL Pathway Coach program Supporting ORS coach development program for 2 sub-elite coaches in 2016. Planning a calendar of PD nights in 2016 which will be published in Feb. 8 HP – DAP & PAP Hockey – the game for everyone! PAP in Metro area - 37 attendees. Top tier state team athletes with future SASI potential. Mini-PAP in Sth East & Whyalla - 5 in each. Coached by Tim Kloeden (past AHL coach) & Matt McGregor (past AHL captain). Hockey SA paid out almost $4k in travel subsidies to 11 regional athletes to attend Adelaide based PAP training sessions. DAP rolled out in Metro and 6 Regional areas – 157 attendees. Boys & Girls U17 invitational development teams competed against Qld, Vic & ACT. Intra-regional development squad games between: Riverland DAP & Sunraysia and South East DAP participating in Vic South West Games Toni Cronk visit early 2015 for specialist GK coaching sessions.

9 Affiliation agreements Hockey – the game for everyone! Hockey SA work in progress to formalise Affiliation Agreements with metro clubs & regional associations. Benefits & responsibilities of affiliation to be included. Key issue with how we cascade and ensure childsafe requirements are addressed given that Hockey SA annually sign off on the DECD compliance statement on behalf of all affiliated clubs regarding childsafe procedures being in place. This compliance statement is referenced by clubs in grant submissions to ORS. 2016: “We are working towards….” 2017: “We have these things in place”

10 State Country Championships Hockey – the game for everyone! Weekend of 14/15 May; similar format to 2015 Selection tool for State Country Teams Coach level 1 course (tbc) Umpire level 1 course (tbc) Umpire development opportunity – to receive feedback from Hockey SA Umpire Coaches Saturday afternoon – Regional President Forum Saturday afternoon – VIP function – invite sponsor/s? Saturday night – games/live entertainment Looking at training for club presidents/committee members
