4 Learning Network Context June 2008 established LN to bring together local governments undertaking climate change adaptation processes as well as Basin local governments interested in following the process. Purpose is to facilitate regional knowledge sharing and learning on climate change adaptation planning and action taking place in the Columbia Basin. October 2009 invitation to all Basin local governments to join and request for activities of interest. Also included CBT’s technical experts and advisors. January 2010, representatives from 15 municipalities and 3 regional districts are participating in the Learning network

5 Learning Network Objectives Objectives: Link expertise and knowledge across governments, academic and practitioner sectors. Provide venues for project communities to reflect, report and get feedback from other local governments and technical experts. Raise awareness and capacity within local governments in the Columbia Basin on climate change adaptation.

6 Learning Network Opportunities that members have noted as interest Introduction to climate change adaptation and getting started –Workshops in your community, council, subregion –Spring 2010 –Which communities are interested? Study tour or seminar in April related to AKBLG is a possibility –Interest? –Still interest if in early May, i.e. outside of AKBLG? Regional climate change adaptation workshop in November 2010 is being debated –Interest? –Wait until 2011? Quarterly newsletter to be out in March (please feel free to send on to communities) Reflection webinar in June 2010 - will monitor value of Learning Network
