3 THIS WEEK; You will write a composition which provides three parallel points to support your main idea. “Parallel” means belonging to the same category, such as; Advantages of something, Disadvantages of something Three goals (next week) Three types of something(next week)

8 HOOK; Start with an interesting beginning about the topic. Write a general, not specific sentence or question INTRODUCTION

9 BACKGROUND INFORMATION; Give some specific informatıon about the topic. Do not give too much details. Write at least two sentences. Your BACKGROUND INFORMATION should be connected to your HOOK. INTRODUCTION

10 THESIS STATEMENT; In your last sentence; Tell the topic, Use specific vocabulary according to the topic you choose such as advantage/benefit, disadvantage/drawback List the ideas that you are going to talk about in your body paragraph. INTRODUCTION

15 NOW REMEMBER: A GOOD COMPOSITION: Is interesting. Is well organized. Uses proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Has all the elements in the right place. Has a powerful “grabber” HOOK sentence. Gives details Has a well-defined thesis statement Has three different advantage, disadvantage to support the main opinion of the thesis. Has a well-organized body paragraph. Has transitions to order ideas. Concludes by “mirroring” the introduction by repeating the thesis and the 3 supporting reasons and leaves the reader with a strong CLOSURE to remember.
