Duties for the day MONDAY 3/16 Judge announces rules Bailiff compiles list of jurors Prosecution announces charge and punishment being sought Prosecution and Defense meeting: –What witnesses will be used? –What side will each witness be on? –Judge keeps record of witnesses –All witnesses are used HOMEWORK: Lawyers: Bring in your evidence to class by Weds! Witnesses: Research your person/part

2. Duties for the day TUESDAY 3/17 Bailiff creates jury summons and delivers to jurors Judge writes statement to court to introduce the case – roles and charges Prosecution and Defense Teams: –Script your opening statement and questions for witnesses you are calling Witnesses –Meet with your team (pros or def) and make sure you know the questions they’ll ask ahead of time.

3. Duties for the day Weds 3/18 Due when you walk in: –Question scripts from each side –Opening statement scripts from each side –Submit all evidence to be assigned a tag: “item a, b, c, etc” –Judge must ask for revision of scripts at this time Due at end of class: –Closing statements –Bailiff’s “swearing in” speech – to be approved by Mr. Wynne and judge –Witness research to best represent their person

4. Duties for the day Thurs 3/19 Rehearse bringing in Jury, rising for judge and jury, and opening statements Each side rehearses questioning and cross-examining the first witness Discuss the rehearsal

5. Duties for the day Fri 3/20 Rehearsal from the beginning Includes all witnesses, questioning and statements Farming of Bones quiz

6. Monday 3/23 Last day to prepare and rehearse Try to dress your part tomorrow First period: extra credit if you come early to help set up before school in Media Center Meet in the Media Center and be ready with scripts etc!!! –TRIAL BEGINS TOMORROW!!!
