2. Collect your group’s dish from the evaporation tray Collect your group’s bin

3. Look at the salt crystals with your hand lens. What shape do you see? What pattern do you see?

4. What happened when the saltwater solution evaporated? What is the material in the dish? What happened to the water that was in the mixture? Does the salt look the same as it did originally?

5. Evaporation The process of a liquid turning to gas and dispersing into the air, leaving any dissolved solid material behind.

6. Crystal The solid form of a material that can be identified by its natural shape or pattern.

7. When a solution evaporates, it leave the dissolved solid material behind.

8. If the evaporation material forms a crystal, it can be identified by its properties, such as shape and pattern.
