In the Web Part List, select Announcements, and then drag it to the desired location on the page. Add a Web Part Here is an example of a Web Part: Click Modify Shared Page and point to Add Web Parts. Click Browse. 1 2 Confirm that the gallery which displays the name of your site is highlighted. Note There are several different types of galleries. Web Part Page Gallery: Contains Web Parts that are closed, but not deleted. Your Team Site Gallery: Display existing content on your site with these Web Parts. 3 4 When you have finished adding the Announcement Web Part, click on the Add Web Parts pane. 5 Add, Delete, or Move a Web Part To add Web Parts to a page, simply drag and drop the part you want to its location on the page. For example, to add an Announcements Web Part to your Team site: Title Bar Frame Content Virtual Server Gallery: Web Parts contained on all SharePoint sites. Online Gallery: Additional Web Parts available from Microsoft. Windows ® SharePoint ® Services web parts are moveable content containers that hold and display content on a SharePoint site. Web Parts can hold document libraries, news sources, and other content types. Place your pointer over the Web Part title bar and click to open the Web Part menu, and then click Delete. Delete a Web Part When you delete a Web Part from a page, the Web Part is removed from the page; however, you can still add it back later if you wish. 1 2 Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page. The page will appear in Design view. Click the title bar and drag the Web Part to the desired location on the page. 2 3 Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page again to exit the design view. 3 Change the Location of a Web Part Display content in a Web Part almost anywhere on the page by dragging it to the desired location. 1 Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page to exit the design view. Click Modify Shared Page, and then click Design this Page. The page will appear in Design view. Design View

All rights reserved. 2 Use the Page Viewer to Display Documents When you’ve uploaded your Word document, Excel spreadsheet or Web page, use the Page Viewer to display it. This tool can also be used to view a Web site. Open the document or spreadsheet and save it as a Web page. On your SharePoint site, click Documents and Lists. Click the folder in your document library which will store the file you want to upload. Click Upload Document>Browse. Find your document and click it, then click Open, and then click Save and Close. Copy the address of the file you uploaded to the document library by right-clicking on the file name, and then clicking Copy Shortcut. You will need this address in step 9. From the site home page click Modify Shared Page. Point to Add Web Parts, and then click Browse. 1 Use Web Parts to Display Content on the Site With Web parts, you can add a banner to the home page of your site, display data on a spreadsheet, or add content such as custom formatted text. Page Viewer Web Part: Displays a Microsoft® Office® 2003 file, such as a Word document or Excel spreadsheet. Image Web Part: Displays an image on a Web page. Content Editor Web Part: Applies special text formatting to content on your site. Note The list of Web Parts above does not include all Web Parts. 3 4 6 Make sure the name of your site is selected as the gallery you would like to browse. In the Web Part List, click Page Viewer Web Part, and then drag the Web Part onto the page. In the new Page Viewer Web Part that now appears on the site, click open the tool pane. In the Page Viewer area on the right, select Web Page. In the box under Link, paste or type the address of the document or spreadsheet, and then click OK. The document or spreadsheet will now appear on the site. 7 8 Use the Image Web Part to Display a Banner or Logo 5 9 On Your SharePoint site, click Documents and Lists. Click on the document library where the image exists that you want to display. Note If your image is not in a picture library, you will need to upload it to a document library. Copy the address of the image in the picture library by right-clicking on the file name, and then clicking Copy Shortcut. You will need this address in step 6. Click Modified Shared Page, point to Add Web Parts, and then click Browse. 2 1 3

In the Image Web Part, click open the tool pane. 5 6 7 In the Web Part List, select the Image Web Part and drag it to your site. Make sure the name of your site is highlighted. 4 Add Customized Content to Your Site Use the Content Editor to apply special text formatting to content on your site. The Content Editor will also allow you to add images, links, or tables. See the following example: 4 5 Click Modified Shared Page, point to Add Web Parts, and click Browse. Make sure the name of your site is highlighted. In the Web Part List, select the Content Editor Web Part and drag it to your site. In the Content Editor Web Part, click open the tool pane. In the Tool Pane, click Rich Text Editor. 1 2 3 In the Image Web Part Tool Pane, type or paste the address of the image, and then click OK. 6 Compose a message and apply text formatting, or insert a picture or table. When done, click Save. In the Tool Pane, click OK. Modify the Appearance of Web Parts After you have placed the Web Part on the page, place your pointer over the Web Part title bar and click to open the Web Part menu. Click Modify Shared Web Part. All rights reserved. 2 3 Click Modify Shared Web Part. In the Web Part pane, click Appearance. 4 In the Height section, select Yes, and then enter the height you want. To change the unit of measure, click the unit you prefer from the list. The default is pixels. In the Width section, select Yes, and then enter the width you want. To change the unit of measure, click the unit you prefer from the list. The default is pixels. 5 6 3 4 After you have placed the Web Part on the page, place your pointer over the Web Part title bar and click to open the Web Part menu. 1 Modify Web Part Size In the Web Part pane, click Appearance. In the Title box, enter the new title you want displayed on the Web Part, and then click OK. Note A Web Part title is not a requirement and, in some cases, it may be beneficial to not have a title at all. Simply delete the Web Part name in the Appearance window. To set the Web Part to this new size, click OK. In the Selected View list, click the view you want. Click OK. 2 On the Announcements Web part, click the arrow and then click Modify Shared Web Part. Modify Web Part Views Use Views to modify the way that the information contained in Web Parts is displayed to site users. For example, you can add or delete columns from a view or change the style. On the Announcements: Edit View page, in the Style section, select the style you want to display, and then click OK. 4 Edit Current View: On the Announcements Web part, click the arrow and then click Modify Shared Web Part. 1 Click Edit the current view. 2 On the Announcements: Edit View page, in the Columns section, select the columns you want to display. Click the position from the left in which you want the column to appear. 3 Hide and Unhide a Web Part On the Web Part title bar, click to open the Web Part menu. Click Close. 1 2 To keep a Web Part on your page, but not display it, you can hide it from view. By closing a Web Part instead of deleting it, you can easily retrieve it later. All closed Web Parts are stored in the Web Part Page gallery. To unhide Web Parts: Click Browse. In the Add Web Parts menu, click Web Part Page Gallery. Under Web Part List, find the closed Web Part and drag it back onto the page. 1 2 3 4 5 Click Modified Shared Page and point to Add Web Parts. Click the Close button on the Add Web Parts pane.
