Changes from Spring 2015 A new INSIGHT test engine installation is required for ALL sites beginning with Fall/Winter 2015-16; DRC INSIGHT Testing Engine version 6.x.x INSIGHT will NOT auto-update from 5.x.x to 6.x.x This update will allow sites that need to use DRC INSIGHT for more than one testing program (EOCEP/SCPASS/SC READY & WIDA) to install one client browser and configure it for both. All testing devices will be managed via the Device Toolkit (previously only used for Chromebooks). Be sure to whitelist dtk.drcedirect.com 50.58.190.22 to enable all testing devices to communicate with the device toolkit.

Changes from Spring 2015 There was an update to the TSM software that was released in November 2015. If your TSMs was configured to auto-update, you may not need to take any action. Launch your TSMs to verify if you are running the current version (8.0.0), and if not, update. Some Android Tablets are now supported (see Testing Devices: Android) as well as some Chrome touch devices. iPad software is available in the App Store for download. Since September 1, 2015, DRC has not supported Windows XP or Mac 10.6.8 and they are restricted from use.

Changes from Spring 2015 EOCEP English passage audio playback has been improved since Spring 2015. Passage audio files are broken into smaller sized files. Eases the loading process Offers additional starting points NOTE: DRC has identified audio playback challenges on DRC- certified Android devices. 11 DRC INSIGHT System Overview

Tutorial Video presentation that guides TAs and students through testing experience. Includes functionality of testing tools and system navigation May be viewed in a large-group setting Available via eDIRECT link under Test Setup/General Information (log in not required). Also available on the Welcome page of DRC INSIGHT after launching the program.

Online Tools Training (OTT) Allows TAs and students a hands-on opportunity to practice using the testing tools and functionality of various item types included on the tests. Can be used to check that the testing engine and HVA/VSL are working correctly. Available by launching INSIGHT software. Public OTT (no HVA/VSL) is also available by accessing the following website in a Google Chrome browser: https://wbte.drcedirect.com/SC/portals/sc Oral Administration (HVA) and Video Sign Language (VSL) versions available for those subjects and tests that offer it. Student OTT sessions should be scheduled prior to and separate from operational testing.

Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA) Download both HVA and TTS files onto the TSM. Ensure the appropriate number of working headphones are available for students. Adjust the volume on each workstation to a comfortable level. Check student accommodations in Test Setup (eDIRECT) to ensure oral administration has been assigned. Do not use student test tickets to test that software is working. OTT logins should be used for these purposes.

Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA) DURING TESTING When a student logs in, he/she should see audio buttons on the Welcome screen. Students will hear a human voice for directions and test items. A text-to-speech (synthesized) voice will read the Help content. If a student needs to adjust the volume during testing, they should click the ‘Options’ button and select ‘Audio Settings.’

Helpful Hints – Video Sign Language (VSL) Download VSL files onto the TSM. EOCEP tests offer both ASL and PSE versions of VSL, SCPASS offers an ASL version, No VSL is offered for SC READY in 2016. Ensure the appropriate number of working headphones are available for students taking PSE versions of the test. Check student accommodations in Test Setup (eDIRECT) to ensure signed administration has been assigned. Do not use student test tickets to test that software is working. OTT logins should be used for these purposes. DURING TESTING When a student accesses the test, he/she should see the sign language button starting on the test directions pages. Students should press this button to activate the video.

Network Requirements All testing devices should have access to the Internet and DRC servers using HTTP/HTTPS protocols on ports 80 and 443. All firewalls should allow connectivity on ports 80 and 443. Whitelist the following file types, both internally and externally: enc, exe (for updates), gif, html, jar, jpeg, xml. Prioritize/whitelist INSIGHT traffic on: firewalls, Internet packet shaper, routers, switches, proxies, other network devices. Whitelist these URLs on content filtering systems or other proxy/firewall software that is used locally. http://sc-insight-client.drcedirect.com for HTTP https://sc-insight.drcedirect.com for HTTPS (secure HTTP) https://wbte.drcedirect.com https://dtk.drcedirect.com (device toolkit)

Testing Site Manager (TSM)

TSM What you need to know… Allows students to continue testing if internet connection fails (response caching). Reduces Internet traffic by approximately 50% by caching test content (content caching). 1 TSM recommended for every 150 simultaneous testers (utilization of HVA/VSL increases the number of TSMs needed). Highly recommended whenever possible. Mandatory for audio/video (HVA/VSL) testing accommodations.
