4  Every student entering publically funded prekindergarten and kindergarten  Administered by the forty-fifth day of the school year  Initially focused on early language and literacy development  Beginning in Fiscal Year 2016-2017, must assess ◦ early language and literacy development ◦ mathematical thinking ◦ physical well-being ◦ social-emotional development

5  Prekindergarten-Administer one assessment from a list of up to three  Kindergarten- administer the Developmental Reading Assessment(r) 2nd Edition PLUS  Early literacy and language  Administered during the first forty-five days and the last forty-five days of the school year

10  ELA ◦ Administered over two days ◦ Approximately 2 ½ hours per day  Mathematics ◦ Two sessions on one day  Session 1 -no calculator section  Session 2 - calculator section ◦ Approximately 2 hours

11 Subjects/SessionsItem TypeItem Type Description ELA & MathematicsSelected Response (SR) Students select their response from a list of possible answer options. ELA Evidence-Based Selected Response (EBSR) Students read a piece of text or passage and choose the best answer from the answer choices. Students will then be asked to support their response with evidence from the text—e.g. select multiple evidence statements, place multiple steps in correct sequence, place multiple punctuation marks correctly, etc. ELA Text-Dependent Analysis (TDA) Students read a piece of text or passage and draw upon that text for their extended written responses—e.g., support their responses with evidence from the text. Mathematics Short Answer (SA) or Gridded Response (GR) For online testers, students will key a numeric response (short answer). For paper/pencil testers, students will grid a numeric response (gridded response) on their answer document. MathematicsTechnology Enhanced (TE) Students interact with the item (online only) to provide their response—e.g., drag and drop, hot spot, graphing, etc.

15  End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) ◦ English 1, Algebra 1, Biology 1, and US History and the Constitution ◦ Each student’s score included as 20% of their course grade

16  ESEA Waiver amendment request ◦ Requested response by early December ◦ English 1 and Algebra 1 scores as high school accountability measure  If denied: ◦ English 2 and/or Geometry for accountability

17  Administered for the first time in spring 2016  Scores would not be included as 20% of student’s course grade until reviewed and approved by the Education Oversight Committee  Administered to all students who were enrolled in the course during 2015-16
