 Enhanced  Core Learning  Integrated  Problem Solving

 Core Curriculum State Standards  Ideas already considered core, bringing additional ideas into the center…e.g., arts, technology, problem solving…

 Multidisciplinary  Interdisciplinary  Transdisciplinary These terms address a movement from more superficial connections among disciplines to a point where skills and information from one discipline is vital to work in the other(s).

 Problem Solving An ill-defined situation that requires the use of expertise from one or more disciplines, which typically implies collaboration.

 Strengthening, deepening, broadening…  Making something a bit better than it was before—how it is “better” may differ from one to the next.

 Enhanced – What is getting better? In what ways? What new challenges are being set? For the students? For the teacher?  Core Learning What traditional areas are being addressed? What processes are used? What additional areas are being brought in? How are they made “core”?  Integrated How does the information/ideas/skills from one discipline support learning in others?  Problem Solving To what extent are the children being allowed a degree of open-ended control over the outcome (e.g., new approaches, choosing their focus, determining meaningful outcomes)

 Lesson plans  Copies of student artifacts  Videos  Photos  Anecdotal reports  Numerical data

They will describe the attributes of the paper samples, group them, and relate the attributes to the uses to which each type of paper is or could be put to.
