2 What is the EHC tracker telling us? Increase in requests for EHC needs assessment (Q1: 229 Q2: 267) Proportionally more requests accepted for assessment (Q1: 64% Q2: 81%) Q2: 46% increase in number of assessments for SENAR to progress within 20 weeks (Q1: 148 Q2: 217) Big increase in requests for early years (Q1: 47 Q2: 85). Small increase in secondary (Q1: 55 Q2: 69). Small decrease in primary (Q1:119 Q2: 109) (Post 16: Q1: 8 Q2: 6) North Q1: 65 Q2: 60; East Q1: 53 Q2: 83; West Q1: 46 Q2: 51; South Q1: 65 Q2: 75 Proportional decrease in number of requests declined - indicates general improvement in the quality of information provided by referrers Most frequent reason for declining a request for assessment continues to be : insufficient information about the action already taken by the provider to meet the child's needs Provides the ongoing focus for current and future workforce development activities

4 Learning through implementation: Activities Volume of new requests - SENAR decision making tool Decision making and follow up support –Thresholds –A2E protocol for follow up support (help reduce number of appeals?) –Summary of intervention (CRISP pilot) Decisions not to proceed to final EHC Plans (16 week) –Format of a ‘personal support plan’ being finalised –Development of script for planning meetings (around 12 weeks) with family and agencies to ensure this aspect is fully explained and understood Finalising EHC Plans –Commissioners developing process to balance commissioner involvement and statutory timeframes Training delivered – SENCO networks –Outcomes –Early Support: Keyworking and working in partnership Training delivered - Parents –Early Support: Parent Workshop (Parent trainer)
