4.  The hypothalamus gland is located just above the brain.  The thymus gland is located in the upper part of the chest.

5. Thymus  Function: transforms lymphocytes.  Role of thymus: improves a child's immune system. Hypothalamus  Function of the hypothalamus: Sends out nerve signals to various muscles  Role of thymus: Maintain homeostasis.

7.  Thymosins: stimulates antibody production.  Thyrotropin: stimulates and regulates activity.  Dopamine: releases chemicals

9.  Corticotropin: peptide hormone and neurotransmitter.  Somatostatin: release of somatotropin by the pituitary gland.

10.  Thymoma: a tumor from the epithelial cells of the thymus.  Thymic carcinomas: disease in which malignant (cancer) cells will form outside on the surface on the thymus.

11. ◦ Adrenal Insufficiency: occurs when the hypothalamus or pituitary gland doesn’t make adequate amounts of the hormones. ◦ Hyperparathyroidism: The disease causes the parathyroid glands to lose its control mechanism.
