7 High School Classes & Things to Think About Middle school is a great place to start taking a World Language. You are more likely to be successful taking a language that you are interested in, not because you have a sibling taking that language! Beginning a World Language in 7 th grade, things to think about. Keep in mind how much time you spend doing after school activities (sports, dance, etc.) and it is important to have a balance between your interests and your academics. If you are not planning on taking 5 years of a language, you do not need to begin in 7 th grade. Some math courses and all World Language courses are High School Credit. They count towards your G.P.A. and go on your HS Transcript.

8 Communications Elective This course introduces students to the basic principles of human communication. Units of study include; public speaking, journalism/current events, radio and television studies, film making, theater arts and advertising. Students will learn the communication process, qualities of competent communication and effective application of communication skills in real world situations. Emphasis will be on developing critical thinking skills and helping students develop their media literacy. This course is project-based; students will exhibit their learning though activities in publication (newspaper) broadcast (radio, television and film) and public speaking (debate and drama).
