21 credits needed to graduate from Heath High School. 4 credits of English 4 credits of Math 3 credits of Science 3 credits of Social Studies ½ credit of Health ½ credit of Physical Education** 1 unit of Fine Arts** 6 electives ( fine art can be included in this number)
Physical Education Exemption Students must take 2 Physical Education (PE) Classes or participate in 2 seasons of Heath High School Sports or Marching Band. You cannot combine 1 PE course with one sport. No credit is given for the sport, so the student must make up that ½ somewhere else. If your child took PE 8 that will be counted as a High School Credit. PE is also a freshman/sophomore course. Students who say that they are playing a sport or are in band must do one of these their freshman year or sign up for two PE classes their sophomore year.
Art Requirement The state of Ohio requires students to take 2 semesters of art or music between grades 7-12 for graduation. 7 th and 8 th grade art and music do not count for high school credit, but meet the fine art requirement. Middle School Students that take ART 1 will receive HS Credit. Students who are planning to attend college and/or earn the honors diploma should take 1.0 credit (2 semesters) of high school art or music.
