2 Together for Short Lives Project To support Hospices and palliative care services to increase understanding of Personal Health budgets (PHB’s) and their relationship to palliative care To explore the opportunities of PHB’s In Control commissioned to produce information to support with the above

3 Timeline February – information gathering – today and future session March – produce written guidance on PHBs and their use in palliative care To produce recommendations for site support on the implementation

4 Purpose of today Identify the level of current knowledge Understand focus of anxiety in relation to PHB Develop greater understanding of the needs of colleagues in palliation and the families they serve Recruit a focus group and a virtual reference group

5 Questions for today Rate how well informed are you about personal budgets (1= I know nothing to 5 = I am very well informed. Tell us if there is a range on the table). What are the top three issues in relation to personal budgets about which you need to know more? What are the top three issues you are most worried about? Then: What are the top three issues you face as an organisation in making personal budgets work for families? (Tell us if you have suggestions what to do about these. Give us your contact details if you are happy to speak to us more about an issue.) Is there anything else you think would help us to write these briefings? Any ideas you have or other people we should talk to? (Give their contact details if possible)
