5 th and 8 th Mr. Luper

 Keep the cylinders upright at all times  In storage  On carts  Keep cylinders secured  Mark cylinders when empty  Write EMPTY  Write MT

 Replace cylinder cap  Always when not in use  When transporting  Be safe when opening valves  Open slowly  Do not open acetylene more than half a turn ▪ Only ¼ - ½ a turn is necessary

 Never hit the cylinders  Do not roll cylinders along the ground  Never use a cylinder as a ground when welding

 Never swap regulators  Oxygen belongs to oxygen  Acetylene belongs to acetylene  NEVER exceed 15 psi on acetylene  Too much pressure is dangerous

 When installing regulators  Never tighten too much  Remember acetylene is reverse threads  Keep at 45 degree angle  Always relieve bleed pressure off when finished with torch  Close Valve  Bleed the hoses  Always back adjusting screw off

 When attaching hoses  Clean hoses by blowing them out  Remove access dust on exterior  Prevent sparks and heat  Make sure that the hoses and cylinder are out of the path of sparks  Never apply straight heat to either

 Testing for leaks  Use soapy water  NEVER us a Flame or Lighter  Do NOT attempt to repair leaky hoses  Tape of any sort is not proper repair  Hoses are best to be replaced

 Oxy-Acetylene Goggles  Used for cutting only  Not to be used for welding  Do not use the pressure from the torch to dust off  Gases can ignite your clothing  Use the proper tools  Only use a Spark Light to ignite the torch

 Always be in a well vented area  Never use where there is no air movement  Oil is not to be used for lubrication  Reactions can cause conbustion
