By forcing those who were disloyal to leave their land and replacing them with people who were loyal 2) Why does the timeline show two dates for the Aztecs before the beginning of their empire? The two early dates show important milestones in the growth of the Aztec civilization before it became an empire

4 3) Mention one advantage and one disadvantage of this system of keeping record Advantage.- You can record a lot of information and might last longer than paper. Disadvantage.- It takes a lot of space and it is hard to learn

The Incas worshipped many Gods and practiced human sacrifice; Inti and Viracocha were two important Inca God. 5) List the major events events in the creation of the Incan empire in order 1200- Settled in Cuzco 1438- Pachacuti conquered the people of the Andes and the Pacific coast.Topa Inca expanded the empire even more 1500- The Spaniards conquered Incas

They were in search of gold and other treasures 7) How were the Spanish able to defeat the Native Americans They had guns and horses, which the Native Americans had never seen; Native American weapons were far less powerful; the Spanish carried diseases that sickened and killed entire villages, they were able to use local rivalries to enlist the help of some Native American groups

7 8) Who was Moctezuma? Montezuma was a ruler of the Aztec. 9) Why did Spain and Portugal became rivals? Spain and Portugal became rivals because each country sent explorers to the Americas and tried to stop one another form claiming land there

8 10) What are two reasons the conquistadors were able to conquer the Aztecs and the Incas? Because Spanish explorers heard stories of wealthy kingdoms in the Americas. They hoped to find gold and other treasures there. 11) Why did European nations begin exploring other parts of the world? Because they were searching for new trade routes to Asia
