2 CDM Eligibility In 2013, GCS-M-001 Policy Defining “Course for Credit,” was approved by the State Board of Education (SBE). Within this policy are guidelines for offering Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) to North Carolina (NC) students. CDM is the process in which local education agencies (LEAs) employ a body-of- evidence to award a student credit in a particular course without requiring the student to complete classroom instruction for a certain amount of seat time. The CDM process is open to all NC public school students in grades 9–12 in high School courses and in grades 6–8 for high school courses offered in middle school. Exception: English II in middle school

3 CDM Timeline Aug 10-25 (Jan 11-15) Student application window By Aug 25 (Jan 26) School Test Coordinators complete Fall 2015 CDM Request Form in Google Docs September 9 (Jan 27) School Test Coordinators’ training September 14 (Feb 8) School Test Coordinators’ pick up CDM assessments September 15 (Feb 9) Administer CDM at school site (120 minutes) Makeups 9/16; Feb 10 By October 9 (March 7) CDM assessment results reported to students and families By October 8 (March 6) Scoring completed at NHCS Testing Office (three-member team) October 26 (March 14) Artifact assigned November 30 (April 15) Artifact deadline (To be turned into School CDM Contact) By December 17 (May 16) CDM Review Panel disseminates results to school/student/family.

6 Test Administrators Local Requirement: Test administrators must by certified staff. –Teachers –Social workers –Counselors –Retired teachers –Teacher assistants who are certified teachers

7 OTISS – System for Reporting Test Irregularities Account set up (NC ID) –Approval procedure –Training/manual TC responsibilities –TC submits irregularity –Add student(s) name, ID and test form

8 After Testing - Packaging and Returning Materials Return all materials to the Testing Department. –Test documents –Scrap paper –Graph paper –Assessment Guides (AG) File completed Review of Accommodations Used During Testing forms in student PLANS.
