2 Humorous Speech Contestant ELIGIBILITY Be a member in good standing of a Club. Requires no speech level. Maintains eligibility at all contest levels. Complete the Speaker’s Certification of Eligibility and Originality.

3 Humorous Speech Contestant ELIGIBILITY Competing in more than one Area contest for same contests. Serving as a judge at any level of contest in which s/he is still competing. International officers, District officers, I.P. District officers.

4 Humorous Speech Contestant ORIGINALITY The speech MUST be thematic in nature.(opening, body and closing) A speech entirely taken from another source is NOT original. Jokes, stories, and anecdotes which are told many times by many people are in the public domain.

5 Judging Criteria CONTENT…………….…55% Speech Development 15% + Effectiveness 15% +Speech Value 15% + Audience Response 10% DELIVERY…………….…30% Physical 10% + Voice 10% + Manner 10% LANGUAGE…………..…15% Appropriateness 10% + Correctness 5% -------------------------------------------- Total………………………100%

6 Reminder  Time Qualification: 4’30”~7’30” 5’ Green 6’ Yellow 7’ Red If a technical failure of signal, speaker is allowed extra 30 sec. NO BELL ALARM!!!

7 Protests  Protests are ONLY limited to judges and contestants on speaker’s originality or eligibility.  Protests ONLY taken place prior to the winners announcement.  All judges’ decisions are FINAL
