First Principle...Integrity: acting as guardians of the sport, recreation, activity or area Effective Behaviours Protect the principles of good governance. Declare any conflicts of interest. Am impartial. Demonstrate the organisation’s values. Always use respectful language and behaviour. Balanced positive disposition in the face of challenges. Publically support group decisions by the Board. Proactive in anticipating any potential threats to the organisation. CONFIDENTIAL2

First Principle...Integrity: acting as guardians of the sport, recreation, activity or area Ineffective Behaviours Become inflexibly caught up in promoting my own views. Gossip or act with bias or prejudice towards others. Use offensive or discriminatory language or behaviour. Keep quiet if I have concerns about the organisation. Fail to deliver on my commitments as a Board member. Publically disagree with decisions that the board takes as a group. CONFIDENTIAL3

Sixth Principle...Accountability & Transparency: open & accountable to athletes, participants and members; actions stand up to scrutiny Effective Behaviours Listen actively & encourage the contributions of my Board colleagues, and stakeholders. Ask probing questions to get to the heart of issues and opportunities. Share my views openly and respectfully. Behave in ways that promotes trust and openness between the Board and executive. Raise difficult issues through a brave and respectful style of dialogue. Adopt a facilitative approach as required to seek win-win outcomes to discussions. Take an active part in effectively engaging and networking with our key stakeholders. CONFIDENTIAL4

Sixth Principle...Accountability & Transparency: open & accountable to athletes, participants and members; actions stand up to scrutiny Ineffective Behaviours Fail to deliver on my commitments as a Board member. Publically disagree with decisions that the board takes as a group. Dominate board meetings with my views. Dismiss the views of others. Allow disagreements or conflicts with others to go unresolved CONFIDENTIAL5

Discussion Groups….. KEY QUESTIONS: When you've attended or observed Board meetings what are (confidential but real) examples of great behaviour you've seen? What made it great? And what are (confidential but real) examples of disappointing behaviour you've seen? Why was it unhelpful? What are the biggest opportunities for behavioural change on the Board's you sit on or observe? How might you influence these opportunities for behavioural change? How can you use the Framework to support you? Prepare to share: your key reflections about moving forward Governance & Leadership in Sport in Wales.... CONFIDENTIAL6
