Backup – End State Utilize Netapp -SnapManager for Virtual Infrastructure (SMVI) – currently deployed -All VMDKs will be protected in our environment -Weekly, monthly and annual Full backups will be copied into Storsimple device. Netbackup will manage the retention policies -Azure will meet our compliance policies for offsite data

SMVI in a nutshell · SMVI co-exist with Virtual Center and uses API to communicate with Virtual Center to provide requests to the ESX servers for their respective Virtual Machines. · Virtual Center communicates with the ESX servers for all management functions, and uses resident agents in the ESX servers. · SnapManager for Virtual Infrastructure uses ONTAP API to schedule Snapshots and SnapRestores functions in the NetApp platforms, as well as invoking SnapMirror for replication of these Snapshots which can be directed at a DR site. · Snapshots always happen at the Datastore levels, but restores can be done at the individual Virtual Machine level.

Timeline January – Complete setup of Azure as backup target – Evaluate and implement deduplication or compression solution License pack for Symantec Netbackup –or- Native powershell scripting to compress data on Azure storage – Finalize script for SnapManager on Linux servers (needed for SMVI to quiesce NFS mounts) February – Full implementation of SMVI and significant reduction of backups utilizing server agents – Weekly full backups to Azure – Only monthly full backups containing financial data will be shipped to tape and to Iron Mountain March – Review native SQL and Oracle backups utilizing Netapp

5. Snapshot Schedule Hourly snapshots – Last 3 hourly snapshots will be retained Daily snapshots – 5 day rotating snapshots Weekly full – NDMP copy of snapshot will be copied to Netbackup and Azure
