2. What are Rain Forests? Rainforests are very thick, warm, wet forests, and are home to millions of plants and animals.

3. Why are Rain Forests Endangered? Rain forests are endangered, because of deforestation, and forest destruction. Deforestation is when trees are cleared from a forest. People are doing this, for the trees lumber, grazing space for cattle, road construction, etc.

4. Plants The rain forests of the world have about 80% of the worlds green flowering plants in existence. Scientists estimate that only 2.5 acres of rain forests have over 750 different species of plants. Because of deforestation, these plants will either die, or have their habitat destroyed.

5. Animals Many rainforest animals are endangered, such as Gorillas, Jaguars, Poison Dart Frogs, Bengal Tigers, Chimpanzees, Orangoutangs, and Harpy Eagles. An estimated half of the world’s animal species live in the world’s rainforests. All of the animal species are threatened because of the rainforest destruction.
