5 Important Dates & Deadlines Stay up-to-date on upcoming dates and deadlines! If a college sets a deadline, that is 100% the last day to be considered! Refer to deadlines chart, website, Remind emails/texts, Blackboard calls, etc. to stay informed on this information.

7 Access to Scholarship Info Visit the JCHS website http://jchs.jc-schools.net/ Scroll down to the “School Counseling” header on the left-hand side. Click on “Scholarship Information 14-15” Visit the JCHS Counseling Office Scholarship information is kept in a filing cabinet in our office; students are welcome to browse the files to learn about various scholarships.

8 TN Promise Information

9 TN Hope Scholarship Info Students must meet the following requirements: Entering freshmen must have a minimum of a 21 ACT (980 SAT), exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests OR Overall unweighted* minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA)unweighted* Award amount – Up to $6,000 per year at an eligible four- year postsecondary institution or a two-year eligible postsecondary institution that offers on-campus housing. Up to $3,000 per year at an eligible two-year postsecondary institution. The award is divided equally between fall, spring and summer semesters.

10 High School Diplomas GRADUATE WITH HONORS: Students who score at or above all of the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT or equivalent score on the SAT will “graduate with honors.” ACT‘s College Readiness Benchmarks are English 18; Math 22; Science 23; Reading 22. GRADUATE WITH DISTINCTION: Students will be recognized as graduating “With Distinction” by attaining a “B” average and completing at least one of the following: Earn a nationally recognized industry certification Participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools Participate in one of the state’s All-State musical organizations Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist Attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two advanced placement exams Successfully complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted post-secondary credit.

11 High Honors/Honors/ Honor Roll HIGH HONORS / HONORS: Jefferson County High School recognizes all seniors who have attained a 4.1 or higher grade point average (GPA) as members of the high honors group. This group of high honor students will choose the graduation speakers within their own members. JCHS also recognizes seniors who maintain a 3.7 to 4.0999 grade point average as honor students. Rank and GPA will be calculated upon completion of the seventh semester, utilizing the 5.0 GPA. HONOR ROLL: Scholarship is recognized and encouraged through an academic honor system. The honor system is an incentive for those whose average in each of his/her subjects is at least 85. Those students who achieve all grades of at least 85 will qualify for the “B” honor roll; those students who achieve all grades of at least 93 will qualify for the “A”” honor roll.
