What will become of radio, newspapers, magazines, (all print media)? Will television continue to remain the same or change? Will computers, cellphones, handheld devices (all ICTs) and internet continue to rule? Will there always be a place for trained, educated journalists? Who will pay them? THE MEDIUM FUTURE?

Explore how the “medium” has affected the “message” since newspapers until today. Suggest how it may affect the message in the future. JOURNALISM ASSIGNMENT

The “medium is the message” is a phrase coined by Marshall McLuhan meaning that the form of a medium embeds itself in the message, creating a symbiotic relationship by which the medium influences how the message is perceived. It could also mean that people are more interested in the gadget they use than the message it is saying. For example, people are more interested in the iPod rather than the songs they listen to. THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE?

STEP ONE Each individual will research how the medium affects the message looking closely at newspapers, radio, television, and internet (Web2.0). This research will focus on 2 guiding questions: In general, how does the medium change the news? Specifically, how does the medium affect the message? MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

STEP TWO When you have addressed the questions with your research, create a visual, audio, or written presentation that adequately displays your MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE
