6 1.Bring a chair to a machine of your choice 2.Uncover machine 3.Put cover in Kitchens 4.Unwind the Foot Pedal and place on the floor 5.Make sure your machine is plugged in to wall and wall to machine 6.Turn on your machine (to slow if machine allows). A light should come on. 7.Sit at machine with two practice papers Setting up to Sew

7 8.Note where you will START 9.To start, place the paper under presser foot with the bulk to the left 10.GENTLY lower presser foot Sewing Paper Practice

8 11.Use HAND WHEEL (turn towards you) and put needle down into paper, on the line 12.Gently put pressure on Foot Pedal, sewing forward 1 inch (F). Then HOLD DOWN reverse lever (R) and return to starting point. Then sew forward (F) and continue on Sewing Paper Practice

9 Sew until you reach a PIVOT pointSew until you reach a PIVOT point Slow machine down and use hand wheel to get needle in PIVOT pointSlow machine down and use hand wheel to get needle in PIVOT point Sewing Paper Practice

16 When instructed to clean up by Mrs. Hayes:When instructed to clean up by Mrs. Hayes: –Do FRF –Lift presser foot and remove paper, cut threads –Turn machine OFF –Wind up Foot Pedal and place inside machine –Cover machine –Return scissors to bin/basket –Return chair to table Clean Up
