Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza4 –Main Antenna Assembly technology: –Antenna Coax Assembly Assembly technology: Heat stake Main Antenna Assembly Contact fingers Antenna connection PCB

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza5 Main Antenna-LDS version Risks identified Connection with Contact Fingers. Risk for wearing the antenna contact pads. Assembly –Antenna type: Main antenna, LDS-antenna pattern –Assembly Method: The antenna radiator is applied on antenna carrier by LDS (laser direct structuring) technology. –Guiding: No guiding needed for LDS version –Parts effecting the antenna: B-cover material. Camera Bridge Vibrator Speaker Connectors Flash flex Battery shield –Type of antenna connection: Contact pads on antenna pattern and contact fingers assembled on connection PCB LDS-antenna pattern can be applied on those surfaces Surfaces for gold plated contact pads (2x3 mm). Add chamfer and radius on sharp corners.

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza6 Main Antenna-Flex Film version Risks identified Guiding features missing. Guiding holes in the flex could improve the assembly. Can be placed with ±0.2-0.3mm. Big risk for peel off. Pressure jigs needed. No double curvatures on top and side surfaces to get a simple design and a safer assembly. Assembly –Antenna type: Main antenna, flex film –Assembly Method: Adhesive Manual using jig. –Guiding: No guiding in current design. Guiding holes in the flex and carrier will improve the assembly. –Parts effecting the antenna: B-cover material. Camera Bridge Vibrator Speaker Connectors Flash flex Battery shield –Type of antenna connection: Contact pads on antenna pattern and contact fingers assembled on connection PCB *Add chamfer and radius on sharp corners. *Add guiding holes for Flex assembly.

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza7 Main Antenna-Flex Film version Risks identified Antenna product specific specification not received from Nokia –LOM is following Nokia generic antenna specification Assembly tolerance impact to RF variation not known Based on experience, for GSM antenna, 0.1mm shift on positioning gives 3-6MHz frequency variation –With +/-0.5mm ( manual assembly tolerance +/-0.3 and +/-0.2mm copper outline tolerance) shift the variation could in worst case be +/-30Mhz –100%RF Testing implemented No IPR issues identified based on current information Material –Antenna typ: Flex Antenna –Total thickness: ~0,15 mm –Cosmetic class: 3 Not visible. –SMT Components (soldering): No –Build-up (No soldering): 1.Solder Mask, 12-18 µm Cosmetic class 3 2.Copper (RA), ~ 18 µm 3.Adhesive ~ 8,5 µm 4.Pet ( Polyester), 50 µm 5.Adhesive 3M 467, 60 µm 6.Split liner (protect during assembly) –Roller direction: See picture. –Number of contact points: Three contact pads. –Plated area: 3x(4x2.7 mm) –Plating: Ni 3 ± 1 µm Au > 0.5 µm –Tolerance: Cu to Cu ± 0.05 Cu to Outline ± 0.2 Outline ± 0.1 Roller direction

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza8 GPS / Wlan Antenna-LDS version Risks identified Connection with Contact Fingers. Risk for wearing the antenna contact pads. Assembly –Antenna type: GPS / Wlan antenna, LDS-antenna pattern. –Assembly Method: The antenna radiator is applied on antenna carrier by LDS (laser direct structuring) technology. –Guiding: No guiding needed for LDS version –Parts effecting the antenna: B-cover material. Camera Bridge Vibrator Speaker Connectors Flash flex Battery shield –Type of antenna connection: Contact pads on antenna pattern and contact fingers assembled on Main PCB LDS-antenna pattern can be applied on those surfaces Surfaces for gold plated contact pads (2x3 mm).

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza9 GPS / Wlan Antenna-Flex Film version Risks identified Guiding features missing. Guiding holes in the flex could improve the assembly. Can be placed with ±0.2-0.3mm. Big risk for peel off. Pressure jigs needed. Flat surface to get a simple design and a safer assembly. No double curvatures on top and side surfaces to get a simple design and a safer assembly. Surfaces for gold plated contact pads (2x3 mm). Assembly –Antenna type: Main antenna, flex film –Assembly Method: Adhesive Manual using jig. –Guiding: No guiding in current design. Guiding holes in the flex and carrier will improve the assembly. –Parts effecting the antenna: B-cover material. Camera Bridge Vibrator Speaker Connectors Flash flex Battery shield –Type of antenna connection: Contact pads on antenna pattern and contact fingers assembled on Main PCB

Tasman_Antenna_Feasibility_study / Florian Borza10 GPS Wlan Antenna-LSD version Risks identified Guiding features missing. Guiding holes in the flex could improve the assembly. Can be placed with ±0.2-0.3mm. Connection with Pogo pin, pressure fit. Risk for damage the flex when assembly. Assembly –Antenna type: GPS- Wlan antenna, flex film –Assembly Method: Adhesive Manual using jig. –Guiding: No guiding in current design. Guiding holes in the flex will improve the assembly. –Parts effecting the antenna: B-cover material. Camera Bridge Vibrator Speaker Connectors Flash flex Battery shield –Type of antenna connection: Pogo pin. Pressure fit.
