2 ● The Tuskegee airmen were young black americans who was eager to serve in the military as pilots something that black people had never been allowed to do before. ● In 1940, under pressure from black activists and other political groups and president Franklin D. Roosevelt and the USAAC reversed its position on accepting black flight program applicants. Facts

3 ● The Tuskegee trained pilots of the 332nd flew fighter aircraft with distinctive paint schemes to assist with identifying each other. The 332nd’s identifying marking was bright red tails on their fighters. AIRCRAFTS

4 ● The Airmen completed 15,000 sorties in approximately 1,500 missions destroying more than 260 enemy aircrafts and sinking one enemy destroyer. ● When the tuskegee airmen first started flying they completed 200 missions and had 27 bombers shot down. MISSIONS
