11 Designated Firearm Officer Model Already Designed and Implemented in Western Cape Province. Responsible for Functions related to the Act at Station Level, inter alia: – Monthly Returns. – Physical Inspections. Safes Dealers, Manufactures, etc. – Background Evaluation. Selection, Screening & Appointment of Candidate DFO’s. Training of Designated Firearm Officers.

12 SAPS Operational Policing Strategy: Firearms Except for all the initiatives regarding the implementation of the New Act, SAPS is currently implementing an overarching Operational Strategy to emphasize Government’s commitment to control firearms.
