Quiz  Three parts  Matching items first half; please write letter of definition in blank next to word  Read the passage on the second page; mark the text to help you if needed  Answer the three questions about the reading  Answer 14 in a two paragraph response. Read all directions carefully.  Turn into tray when finished and read SSR book.

4. Reflection  Turn to the journal section of your binder. In one to two paragraphs, reflect upon what you learned in EA1.  List 2-3 things that you know now that you didn’t before  List 1-2 things that still confuse you or that you would like to continue to work on

5. Lit Circle  Get into your lit circle group  Go through each role  This should take about 10 minutes

6. Learning Focus: How Can You Appeal to Readers?  Page 63 in Springboard  As we read, highlight the concepts we already learned about in one color.  In another color, highlight the new concepts we will learn about in the second half.

7. In the vocabulary section of your binder, define the following terms  Advertising Techniques (pg70)  Rhetorical Appeals (pg73)  Ethos (pg73)  Pathos (pg73)  Logos (pg73)  Leave space for definitions to add in as we go!

8. EA 2: Unpacking  Turn to page 80  You will be working with your shoulder partners. Write your answer on the bottom of page 81. 1. Read EA2 with your partners. 2. With your group, write a 12 word sentence that describes your assignment for EA2. 3. Share your sentences with other groups to compare answers.
