7  How? By… (some suggestions)  predicting the story  activating prior knowledge  telling the outline beforehand  checking the understanding after reading a selection

8  After reading you can…  Retell the story  Ask for deaper meanings (inferring)  Act out the story  Share picture books without words; ask the children to tell you the story.

9  TIPS:  Read slowly.  Feel free to change the words.  Change your voice for the different characters.
