1 ESPON Info Day on New Calls and Partner Café 18 May 2010 in Bruxelles Call for Proposals on Transnational Networking Activities (Projects carried through by ESPON Contact Points)

2 Programme Manual – Compulsory Activities Overall strategy for the Transnational Networking Activity justifying each action proposed by –a clear transnational orientation, including purely national actions only as its integral part –clearly defined target groups, including groups which otherwise could not have been informed Package of several actions to be implemented as part of the Transnational Networking Activity, among which are –actions carrying through events supporting the capitalisation of ESPON results in the transnational context –operational actions leading to recommendations for new initiatives Actions providing feedback on blunders, misinterpretations and mishaps in Draft Final Reports of ESPON Priority 1 Projects (will be compiled by the CU and forwarded to MC and TPG / Sounding Board) Actions ensuring MC feedback on national activities on the status and development of national ESPON related networks and demand / expectations

3 Programme Manual – Requirements and Budget Transnational Networking Activities not foreseen by the Monitoring Committee: Collection of data for other ESPON Projects Purely national actions, unless being integrated and fully justified as part of a Transnational Networking Activity MC Decision: 3-5 projects foreseen as part of this Call for Proposals 1,3 Mio. € allocated for proposals of this call

4 Programme Manual – Ideas for Actions (1) Promotion of a territorial development approach at events Stakeholder-oriented activities on national, regional and local level to raise awareness, particularly for Priority 2 Awareness-raising in transnational territories focusing on the main territorial challenges (ESPON Scenario 3.2) Activities for young researchers, scholars and students in order to activate the particular interest of the next academic generation Training and teaching activities provided for practitioners, policy makers and teachers Learning efforts towards secondary schools and higher education institutions (European territory of tomorrow) Dissemination of results, information and publications related to ESPON Projects to relevant regional, sectoral and academic stakeholders

5 Programme Manual – Ideas for Actions (2) Efforts to increase networks around the ESPON 2013 Programme by e.g. staging targeted seminars for scientists representing potential beneficiaries Networking with other networks relevant for territorial development and cohesion, including other Structural Funds Programmes Networking actions including neighbouring countries / continents, preferably EU Accession Countries (on their on expenses) Cooperation across projects on Transnational Networking Activities, including “road shows” As complementary to the ESPON Website setting up national websites providing information on ESPON Translation of short texts related to Transnational Networking Activities into other languages than English

6 Deliveries and Outputs Blunder checks by each contracted ECP on Draft Final Reports from Applied Research Projects Draft Final Report –Consisting of max. 50 pages (plus an executive summary of max. 10 pages) –Presenting the strategy implementation achieved as well as main results reached in terms of capitalising ESPON results –Addressing the level of impact on concrete decisions aimed at developing the transnational territorial context Final Report –Consolidating and improving the Draft Final Report on the basis of comments received from MC and CU –Considered as main documentation of the Transnational Networking Activity Reports received will be uploaded on the ESPON Website!
