2 What do we need to know to read Hebrews? Who was it written to? When was it written? Who wrote the book of Hebrews?

3 Why was this book written?  To keep Jews from renouncing Christ & going back to Judaism.  To give them hope during hard & hopeless times  To encourage them to continue living lives of holiness

4 What are some problems we will face in understanding Hebrews?  Hebrews is meant to be read in one sitting.  Audience is familiar with Jewish customs, thought, & history.  Audience has extensive knowledge of OT.  Audience is familiar with common Greek theological concepts.  We misunderstand the writer’s intention with his words.

5 Why do we need to read the book of Hebrews? Find confidence in Christ. Let us draw near to God. Let us hold fast our confession. Let us encourage one another.
