3 Why were England and France at war?
Each State tried to overpower the other. Each State wanted to control the fur trade in North America Hudson Bay Company VS French fur traders. Each State wanted to expand their territories in North America.

5 War of Spanish Succession (1701-1713)
In 1701, the succession of the Spanish throne triggered a war. The Treaty of Utrecht (1713) ended the war in Europe. France had to cede part of Acadia, Hudson Bay and Newfoundland to Great Britain. One of the battles in the war.

8 Infantry One major innovation was the flintlock musket.
An average soldier could fire three rounds a minute but this required training. Problems with accuracy. Close-up of a flintlock mechanism.

Soldiers would form rows and fire at each other; This was seen as civilized warfare. Most firefights took place at ranges between 50 and 100 yards. Ranks of soldiers.

This was another conflict that started in Europe. In North America the conflicts were mainly in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
