Cells Have A NICE trip! Obey all laws!

Objective: Students will be able to provide reasons to support the conclusions that recognize unicellular organisms such as Euglana and algae and compare them to plant and animal cells in order to describe the relationships of living things.

Whenever you see this picture, you will need to write the answer in your journal.

All living things are made up of cells. Bacteria cells Protozoan cells Fungi cells Plant cells and Animal cells

Cells Complete the web with four Cell theory facts!!

Cells Complete the web with four Cell theory facts. All organisms -living things- are made of cells. These cells are like tiny building blocks. Cells do the jobs that keep organisms alive. Cells are the smallest part of a living thing.

What is the smallest part of this living thing?

Plant Cells Plants are classified into the Plant Kingdom. Plants may be grouped into Vascular or non-vascular Plants are made up of plant cells. Plant cells have: - a strong cell wall, -large water vacuoles, and -several chloroplast for photosynthesis used in energy & food production.

Plant cells Plant cells are usually square or rectangle shaped. Plant cells have: -cell wall, - cell membrane, --chloroplasts, -nucleus, -large vacuoles for food & water, and - cytoplasm to protect all the internal organelles. vacuoles nucleus Cell membrane Cell wall cytoplasm vacuole

Plant Cells Multi celled organisms Cytoplasm is the clear jelly like matter that protects the inside cell organelles. Cell walls are found in plant cells but not in animal cells. They are stiff, non-living cell parts that help shape the plant cell. cytoplasm Cell membrane nucleus Cell wall Water vacuole

*Cell membrane holds the cell together and lets substances pass in and out of its pores. Chloroplasts are organelles in some plant and protist cells. They contain chlorophyll that helps the plant cell store solar (SUN) energy. Photosynthesis. Plants are producers. Cell membrane nucleus l Water vacuole Plant Cells Cell wall Chloroplast

Can you DEFINE some of the Parts of a PLANT CELL?

N- C- Chl- C- m- C- w-

What do animal cells look like? Animal cells tend to be sphere or round shaped. Animal cells have: -cell membrane to hold the cell together, -cytoplasm a watery gel inside the cell, -nucleus with a nuclear membrane, and -sometimes small vacuoles where food and chemicals are stored.

Animal Cells Each animal cell has: - a cell membrane- holds cell together and allows substances in and out of the cell, -cytoplasm- jelly like gel that suspend organelles inside the cell, -a nucleus- the control center; or the “Brain,” of the cell, -nuclear membrane- allows substances to pass in & out of the nucleus. nucleus

Animal Kingdom Animals are classified into the Animal Kingdom. Animals are consumers. (They must eat food to live.) Animals can be grouped as Invertebrates or vertebrates. Invertebrate -No backbone Vertebrates - Backbone present

Animal Kingdom: Which are vertebrates? Which are invertebrates? Work as a group? butterfly hamstermousespider humans seahorse worm frog turtle octopus fish seastar

Animal Kingdom:Answers Vertebrates Invertebrates

Can you Define some of the Parts of an ANIMAL CELL?

Cell membrane cytoplasm Nucleus

Copy this CONCEPT MAP into your Science Journal. Plant Cells Animal Cells Can you fill in the empty rectangles?

Compare and Contrast Plant cells & Animal Cells: Cytoplasm Cell Membrane LARGE vacuoles Chloroplast Cell Wall Rectangle shaped Small Vacuoles or NONE. *Centrioles & Lysosomes Round shaped Nucleus & Nuclear Membrane Plant CellsAnimal Cells You are the best!

Design a venn diagram comparing multi-cell organisms with single-cell organisms. animals plants fungi Bacteria Algae protists

Compare and Contrast plant and animal cells. Animal CellsPlant Cells

Compare and Contrast plant and animal cells. Animal CellsPlant Cells Cell membrane Cytoplasm Vacuoles Nucleus Cell wall Cell membrane Cytoplasm Vacuoles Chloroplasts Nucleus
