4. Medway Tests 15-16 th September 2015 Familiarisation test will take place on Monday 14 th September. Children have been preparing for this for a long time, both in and out of school, and are likely to feel anxious. It’s important to give it your best, regardless of the outcome. You don’t have to go to a grammar school to be successful.

5. Grosvenor Hall Residential 28 th September to 2 nd October A parent meeting is planned for the 14 th September 2015 in order to discuss the itinerary, sleeping arrangements, rules and expectations.

6. SATs New assessment style- no more levels. Age related expectation- sample papers are much more difficult than previous KS2 tests. Anxiety relief: in classrooms, staff mentors, steady preparations and parental support. Preparations: – Mock tests in term 2, 3 and 4 – Actual test 9 th -12 th May – Easter school 11 th -13 th April- all welcome.

7. Production As yet this is undecided, however we would like to begin singing the songs as soon as possible in order to avoid last minute ‘cramming’ of lyrics.

8. Transition to Secondary School school applications close Monday 2 November 2015, 4pm school offer day Tuesday 1 March 2016 School visits will be likely in term 6, alongside transition projects within school, visits from secondary staff and a sensitive awareness of children’s reactions.

10. Working from Home Homework- once per week. Beginning in term 2 we shall be using CGP workbooks. Reading- 5x per week Spellings- higher expectation than in previous years Multiplication tables- must know all If we discover an area or skill, specific to your child, which requires a little more work, we will try to involve you as much as possible.
