1 Overview of Fylde MPT1327 Trunking Equipment & Features OR
“What box do I need to do that?”

2 Let’s build a single site system
Step 1: First I need a repeater... Step 2: But for it to be trunked, I need a TSC. One TSC03 supports up to 4 channels Step 3: But for it to be really useful I need more channels, say 3 Step 4: If I want user validation & system management I need an SCI Step 5: and because I have an SCI, I need Syscon NT Step 6: If I need local Teleconnect, add a PCM switch

3 But what about more sites?
Syscon NT Internet- Message Handling Dispatcher x 16 Regional Node PSTN x24 PABXx24

4 RAIL/PIPELINE APPLICATIONS x10 x23 x23 x23 x23 x23 PSTNx24 PABX x24
MHD's PSTNx24 PABX x24 x23 x23 x23 x23 x10 x23

5 Inter-Regional Processor x5 x16 PABX x24 PSTNx24 PABX x24 PSTNx24

6 NETWORK SUMMARY REGION = SITES x 10 INTER-REGION = REGION x 16
NETWORK = INTER-REGION x 5 SYSTEM CAPACITY TOTAL SITES = 10 x 16 x 5 = 800

7 The TSC02 One TSC per RF channel
Same hardware for Control Channel and Traffic Channel(s) Indication of channel state: - RF channel No., Transmit, talkthrough Indication of channel faults: - TX power FWD / REV, receiver, line interface

8 The TSC03 But what does it give me?
One TSC supports up to 4 RF channels Flash Programming an Configuration from P.C Built in optional LIFU Built in Scope for line monitoring But what does it give me?

9 With just a TSC you get… Normal and Emergency speech and non-prescribed data (NPD) calls Status calls Short Data Message (SDM II) With more than one channel - call queuing for channel With more than one channel - queuing for 'called party busy' Set of default control parameters (timers etc) stored in EPROM Monitor various alarms and provide visual indications of status Indication at front panel only

10 What don’t I get? Validation of radios individually
everyone is 'white-listed' A record or billing of the calls made on the system Statistics of calls made on the system Intersite calls including line-dispatcher, PSTN, or PABX calls Call diversion Connection to the system control or analysis terminal Syscon NT

11 The SCI So why bother? One SCI per base station site
Interfaces to the outside world Configuration data held in EPROM Billing records held in SIMM RAM Module: - subscriber validation, billing data, control parameters I/O’s from site: - 5 analogue inputs, 2 logic inputs, 5 logic outputs So why bother?

12 Because you get this... But you need Syscon NT
Validate radios individually everyone is now 'black listed' until they have a record Call records are stored on a call by call basis Call statistics are compiled over a rolling 24 hour period Control parameters can be altered via Syscon NT System alarms are presented to Syscon NT Rack temperature displayed on Syscon NT Auxiliary monitoring and output drivers available for custom use, accessible via Syscon NT. Multi-site operation is possible But you need Syscon NT

13 What if I want more than one site?
SYSCON NT Software Network Management Platform Runs on a PC under Microsoft Windows NT Open MS Access format Individual subscriber management Time-tagged control parameters Variable individual and user-group facilities / priorities Dynamic call timers Call billing Traffic statistics Remote alarm and maintenance facilities Multi-language support including Chinese What if I want more than one site?

14 RCP (Regional Control Processor)
One RCP per 10-site region Connects to the SCI at each site Acts as data routing device for call set-up and radio movements etc Provides gateways to PSTN / PABX Provides access to PC based dispatchers (MHD) It gives you...

15 All this! But it’s no use without...
Gateway to the PSTN via a maximum of 24 lines Gateway to up to 8 PABXs via a maximum of 24 lines Access to 16 PC-based line connected dispatchers Call Diversion Pooled Channels (frequency sharing) Use with Caution!! An expansion port to the INTER-REGIONAL PROCESSOR for very large networks of up to 160 sites But it’s no use without...

16 PCM Switch Controlled by the RCP Serves for the switching of speech
- between sites - to PSTN / PABX - to dispatchers Each card has four ports Each card supports: - 2 wire - 4 wire - E & M - 2/3 wire telephone working (Two ports per card only)

17 What does the PCM switch do?
Switching of speech (or non-prescribed data) between radio sites, line dispatchers, the PSTN, or PABXs. No call set-up logic in the switch, as such but it does provide intelligent processing to interface with phone systems etc e.g. E & M interfacing and DTMF dialling. 10 i.p.s. (dial click) dialling available outbound only. All common 2-wire and 4-wire analogue private circuits. Built in barriers and interfaces Can I have a line based dispatcher?

18 (Message Handling Dispatcher)
YES you need a MHD (Message Handling Dispatcher) PC based operator position with voice control unit Up to 16 terminals can be connected to a regional system Can make voice calls and stack incoming calls Allows the transmission / reception short data messages Runs under Windows 95/98/NT Needs RS-232 link to RCP & audio connection to PCM switch MHD is also the internet gateway for to the radio fleets

19 Call Types Individual speech call Group call Emergency call
Radio  PSTN / PABX calls Call diversion Data call - Status and SDMII (over Control Channel) - Non Prescribed Data (over Traffic Channel) PABX PSTN

20 ...and all in about 427ms seconds!
Call Set-up 1. CC invites call requests (ALH) 2. RU1 sends call request for RU2 3. CC Ahoys the call request (AHY) - ACK for RU1 - AHOY for RU2 RU1 4. RU2 confirms availability (ACK) RU2 5. CC sends Go To Channel message (GTC) CC ... Control Channel TC ... Traffic Channel RU ... Radio Unit 6. Radio units may speak (TC) ...and all in about 427ms seconds!
