3. Tuesday, September 29, 2009 Objectives: Students will get library card and will learn about the brain and gender. Activities: 1)In the library – complete handouts on brain teasers/optical illusions and on men and memory (article with questions) Homework: complete analysis of article

4. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 Objectives: Students will identify and describe the components of the Nervous System. Opener: What is the definition of psychology? So why are we studying the body and the brain? Activities: 1)Complete Opener. Copy Homework. 2)Review Opener. 3)The Nervous System: Guided Notes Homework: Read about Phineas Gage. Answer question at the bottom of the page.

The Nervous System Consists of the Central Nervous System and the Peripheral Nervous System The Peripheral Nervous System consists of the Somatic Nervous System (from the senses) and the Autonomic Nervous System (regulates vital functions) The Autonomic Nervous System consists of the sympathetic (reactions to stresses) and the parasympathetic (restoration of peace)
