3 What’s the occasion? Birthday Party. Bridal Shower. Baby Shower. Catching up with friends and family.

4 What time? Noon (11:30 AM to 12:30 PM). Afternoon (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM). Really, anytime is good for a tea party.

5 Step 1: Invitations You can send handwritten invitations 2 weeks in advance, simply call them on the phone, or send an email to your guests. Try to keep the guest list to around 8 people. Tea parties are supposed to be cozy, so the tea party host can easily mingle with each of her special guests.

6 Step 2. Supplies Teapot. Cups and Saucers. Milk Jug. Sugar pot. Tea spoon. Plates and utensils. Napkins

8 Step 3: Tea Serve a variety of tea ( but don’t feel as if more than three types are necessary) Black Tea, Green Tea and White Tea are the most popular.

9 Step 4: Food Serve sweet and savoury food such as: Scones with jam and butter. Cakes. Sandwiches. Sausage rolls.

10 Traditional Tea Sandwiches: Egg and Salad Cucumber and Cream Cheese Smoked Salmon Cucumber and Mint Chicken Salad Watercress and Goat Cheese

11 Step 5: Set the table Cover a large table with a white linen tablecloth The host serves the tea so place the tea pot, milk, lemon and sugar near the host. It is normal at tea parties for the guests to serve the food themselves.

12 Step 6: Dress up Wear a nice dress similar to what you would wear to church or to a casual wedding. Tea parties are casual affairs, but don't be afraid to get a bit dressier than you would for a normal gathering with friends.

13 Step 7: Prepare the tea Begin boiling the water and setting out the food about 10 minutes before guest are scheduled to arrive. Take this time to put the tea inside the empty teapot. When the kettle is whistling, pour the water into the teapot and take the teapot to the table

14 Step 8: Serve Tea and Enjoy Serve your guests tea and food. Enjoy your afternoon chatting and laughing with your loved ones.
