2 7. What is cross-training and why is it so successful? Cross training is switching between different fitness activities on different days. It is beneficial because it allows you to do new things and to choose activities that you enjoy doing.

3 8. Why is creating a fitness schedule so important? 1. You can schedule your activities around your free time 2. You can consider the weather and seasons when you pick your workouts: EX: choose swimming instead of running on a hot day 3. It helps you balance your activities 4. Helps you stay focused on your fitness goals.

5 10. Define conditioning and name three ways athletes can condition themselves. conditioning = regular physical activity and exercise that prepares a person for a sport. A. healthy diet and rest B. Weight training C. Sport specific drills Ex: agility drills in volleyball or dribbling drills for soccer or basketball

6 11. Why is it so important to drink plenty of water when exercising or playing a sport? a.Water hydrates your body. Without enough water you may feel dizzy, headache, nauseous, clammy skin. (heat exhaustion) b.Without enough water, you can become dehydrated. That is when your body loses too much water and there is not enough in your body to replace what is lost.

Name 3 ways to minimize your risk of injury when exercising or playing a sport. 1. use proper equipment to stay safe 2. know your limits of when to start and stop exercising or playing 3. properly treat your injuries 4. follow safety rules 5. warm up and cool down properly 6. stop if you have pain
