Twenty-First Century Scholars How to go to college for FREE!

Free? No way! Yes, way! The State of Indiana wants more kids to go to college in Indiana, so the State will pay for up to 4 years of college in Indiana. There are just a couple of things you must do to qualify, but you must apply by the end of your 8 th grade year!

What If I Don’t Want to Go to College? That may be true right now. You may not be able to see yourself going to college. Signing up to be a 21 st Century Scholar doesn’t mean you HAVE to go to college, but it does mean that if you decide later that you DO want to go to college, you can go for FREE!

What If I Don’t Want to Go to College? If you don’t sign up for 21 st Century Scholars by the end of 8 th grade and later decide that you do want to go to college, you won’t be able to be a 21 st Century Scholar (free ride) because you didn’t enroll by the 8 th grade deadline. My brother’s story...

What Do I Have to Do? Fill Out the Enrollment Form Maintain a 2.0 GPA (C Average) in high school Take an oath to be drug and alcohol free

What Do I Get? Up to four years of tuition at an Indiana college or university – for FREE! The 21 st Century Scholars program sponsors a lot of special programs for you during high school – college visits, SAT preparation classes, tutoring help, etc. These are all free of charge if you’re a 21 st Century Scholar!

What Do I Get? Your parents’ gratitude – you’re going to be saving them a LOT of MONEY! The ability to keep your options open – if you decide you want to go to college, you’ll be able to! Less debt than most people who go to college! Pride in yourself!

How Do I Apply? Have your parents fill out the enrollment form, seal it in the envelope, and return to Mrs. Gibson in the guidance office. If your family meets the income requirements, you’ll receive notification from the State that you’re enrolled in the program.

Once You’re Enrolled Throughout high school, you will receive continuing academic support from the 21 st Century Scholars people. Maintain a “C” academic average. Stay out of trouble with the law and do not use drugs or alcohol.

Things to Remember This could be worth more than $80,000 – don’t take it for granted. Don’t assume that your parents make too much money for the program – let them look at and fill out the application. It won’t hurt to send it in anyway.

Things to Remember Return the completed enrollment form (sealed in the envelope) to me in the guidance office. I will mail the envelope for you so that I have a list of those who have completed their enrollment forms. When you turn your enrollment form to me, you will receive a free “Front of the Line” Pass for lunch that day!

Things to Remember If you or your parents have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me! Good luck!
