SEF: HOW we raise money  Parents voted: Annual Contributions are most preferred but only 27% of Families contributed by September 2015 Fundraising EventHistorical %TimingGoal Annual Donations (& corporate matching) 40% (& 10%) All year90% Food for Funds0-5%Monthly all year Coin Drive0-5%February Teacher Time Raffle10%February Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser Fiesta30%May/End of Year10%

SEF: WHY we raise money  To continue providing this unique educational resource, we need to raise $100,000 each year Fundraising EventReason for EventOther Ways to Generate Funds Annual Donations (& corporate matching) To bring the Interns! Parents could be asked to sell door-to-door in the future if they do not contribute the expected contribution amount annually per child. Food for FundsTo bring the Interns! In order to raise $500 /month @10%; sales need to be $5000 @20%; sales need to be $2500 Coin DriveTo have kids participate in the program! Teacher Time RaffleTo show appreciation for the Program from the teachers! Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser Fiesta To be a celebration for the parents!

How to contribute $150/child/year  Make your Annual Contribution, preferably before school starts, by… cash check online  If we cannot reach our goal through parent Annual Contributions, we could be forced to ask parents to participate in door-to-door sales or reduce or eliminate the program all together. 10 Daily Cost per Student  School Goal: a 90/10 Immersion environment  90% Spanish | 10% English  Interns help our teachers work to achieve this by adding additional adults speaking Spanish, by requiring students to speak to them in Spanish, and encouraging Spanish in daily interactions Number of school days per year, average172 Expected contribution per student$150 Daily cost per student for a native Spanish speaker in the school for your child $0.87

Value for 87¢ per day  Native Spanish speaking interns  Provide the immersion experience in classrooms, school hallways, cafeteria, library, buses, etc.  Spontaneous Spanish language experiences  Initiate greater learning in smaller groups within the classroom  Assist teachers with dialect, grammar and alternative instruction  Education with the language’s cultural nuances  Leads to well established language skills & understanding  Learning transfers to multiple applications in conversation

Teacher comments “I have had an intern in my classroom since I've been at EHSI (6 years.) This has been an amazing experience for me and the students who benefit from learning from other cultures and different Spanish words and their meaning according to the country or area. The intern participates in the classroom by teaching short lessons created by them or by myself. I am very thankful for this opportunity and hope that parents and other members of the community see the benefit of having people from other countries teaching and learning from different cultures.” “The interns are indispensable! The make our school a rich, lively and vibrant place. They support students and staff in order to provide the greatest learning possible.” “The interns provided are extremely important to provide the "each student" focus that Eden Prairie schools strive to accomplish. We have the unique and valuable opportunity to be surrounded by teachers from all over the Spanish-Speaking world in our classrooms. I applaud the time and resources dedicated to this program, one which is led completely by parent volunteers. Thank You!”

Student comments “I think the interns help the teachers and the students a lot and I like that they take the time to travel to MN to help our school; it is very caring.” “I think the intern program is very important because...they help us with our math, reading, writing and obviously our SPANISH. Plus they're great friends.” “It is a very good program. Helps me a lot in the school in all subjects. They are very nice and friendly. Always helps me correct my work and with math. Our intern helps a lot in class and it would not be a good school without interns.”

5 Facts to Remember 1.It costs $100,000 to have 14 to 18 interns 2.SEF is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization 3.SEF is 100% parent funded 4.Hosts: 20 + Buddies: 40 + Drivers: 40 + 5.$150/child/year is the expected contribution For only $0.87/day your child gets a chance every school day to learn from a native Spanish speaking intern throughout the school environment.

Thank you everyone! Our goal is to have 90% of the SEF annual budget filled by Annual Contributions. Keep in mind – this is what parents have said they want. If the money is not raised by Annual Contributions then more emphasis is place on Cinco to make up the shortfall instead of Cinco being a social event and celebration for parents Let’s do it! Let’s fill the bucket!
