2 What was the main colour of the House of Commons? The House of Commons has a main colour, the colour is green! What was the main colour of the House of Lords? The House of Lords has a main colour, the colour is red!

3 What is the golden mace and where is it in the House of Commons? In the House of Commons, the mace is facing the people in power. The People in power are the Conservative party. The mace and the crown represent the Queen of England, the Queen isn’t allowed in the House of Commons. In the Commons House the mace is in front of the Speaker.

4 Where is the golden mace in the House of Lords? The golden mace is behind the Lord Speaker in the House of Lords! The mace is there when they have debates, the Queen of England visits Parliament once a year for the state opening.

5 Who sat on which side of the House of Commons? In the House of Commons, there are special seats, the Conservative party sit on the left hand side, the main government sit around the on the main seats and the MP’s sit on the outer seats but they call them benches! On the other side the other parties (Labour party, Liberal democrats, the Green party and the Scottish party)

6 What kind of people sit in the House of Lords? The people in House of Lords are mainly people with expertise on the different job subject in the world e.g. the doctor would help make decisions on the NHS.

7 How did people address each other in the Commons? The people address there opposition by saying oh, honourable man/women. E.g. Oh, honourable women I have to disagree! Or they talk through the speaker/deputy speaker

8 Who is in charge of debates in the House of Commons? The Person that is charge of the debates in the House of Commons is the Speaker and if the Speaker isn’t there the Deputy Speaker is in charge of the debate

9 How old is the Hall of Westminster? The Hall of Westminster was closely involved in the life of the United Kingdom since the 11th century, the Hall's past is a journey through 900 fascinating years of our history. It has been through a-lot!

10 Whose trial was held in there? The Hall had two trials in there, the first trial was for Guy Fawkes and his plotters to try and blow up the House’s of Parliament, he was sentenced to have the chop! OUCH!!!! The next person to have the chop was Charles I, he was sentenced for treason because he tried to over run Parliament. This was the beginning of the civil war. That’s why the Queen doesn’t sit in the House of Commons

11 Who has spoken in there? The People who have spoken in the Hall of Westminster are Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama and The Queen. There is a plaque there that has their names on it.

12 Who were the suffragettes? The Suffragettes where women and some men campaigning to get their word across that ladies should have the chance to debate in Parliament and vote for the PM and the MP’s

13 How did they try to win debates? Three of the main Suffragettes chained themselves to the grills of the Ladies gallery, they were carried out making a scene and the rest would sometimes break the law

14 Which towns do Andrew Murrison represent? The towns and villages that Andrew represent as our local MP are : Warminster Westbury Trowbridge Mere Tisbury

15 Who does he work with? Andrew works with Wiltshire council and also local communities, Then he works at the House of Commons for debates! Andrew wanted to become an MP ever since he was little, he likes speaking for people in our area.

16 What has he done to help and what do we want in our area? He has tried to remove the scaffolding, we want Cinemas and Shoe Shops in our area. By Jack K and Oliver S
