1 Brief Lesson #1 Introduction and General Procedures

2 General Procedures for THON Weekend  Full access to the BJC:  Overalls  R&R and OPP Captains  BJC staff  Police  Emergency Medical Services (EMS)  On- shift THON volunteers  MUST wear their on-shift shirts and badges at all on-shift times  Dancers  MUST wear their dancer numbers and dancer bracelets at all times  Four Diamonds Families  MUST wear their Family passes and Family bracelets at all times.  Portals, aisles, and the Concourse walkway should be kept clear, and lines should be moving against the Concourse wall at all times.  On-duty R&R Committee Members have the responsibility to enforce all rules listed in this brief.

3 General Procedures (Cont’d)  OPP will be responsible for cleaning any messes that may occur throughout the various Zones.  Should the spill involve bodily fluids, the BJC staff must be contacted as no THON volunteers may handle any bodily fluids.  Dancers will be permitted access to the concourse level ONLY in the event of an overflow bathroom  Must be escorted by a Morale or R&R Captain.  There will be no public bathroom access on the Event level.  DANCERS ONLY

4 General Procedures (Cont’d)  NO ALCOHOL. AT ALL. EVER. PERIOD.  No person who has consumed alcohol is permitted in the BJC  Overalls, Police, BJC Staff, R&R Captains, and on-shift Committee Members reserve the right to deny access to any spectator who may appear to be intoxicated or cause a disturbance  Overalls, Police, Rules & Regulations Captains, and Rules & Regulations Committee Members reserve the right to ask anyone inside the BJC causing a disruption and/or not following the rules of THON to leave the premises immediately.  Rules & Regulations Committee Members should also immediately find the nearest Captain to escort the spectator from the building.  Stanchions must not be placed in portals where spectators are sitting, even in the event that the portal becomes full.  Use a curtain instead

5 General Procedures (Cont’d)  Machinery is to be operated by BJC staff and OPP Captains only.  Objects may not be thrown from the Event level to the stands (or vice versa) at any time.  No squirt guns with a tank are allowed in the BJC.  Organizations may not hang signs over the railings in front of any THON or Corporate Donor Advertisements.  No large storage containers that cannot fit under the seat may be brought into the BJC.  Spectators may not place any objects or belongings in the stands in an attempt to save seats for their group.

6 General Procedures (Cont’d)  No standing on the seats or in the aisles of the BJC  No unsealed liquids will be permitted in the BJC from the hours of 11:00 PM-4:00 AM.  Committee Members will be checking bags for items that are not permitted to enter the BJC between the hours of 11:00 PM-4:00 AM.  No large quantities of food:  Pizza boxes  Cases of water  Large containers of any kind  Boxes of Joe (or Hot Chocolate)
